Work has been progressing well over the winter months and Geoff Laing as Main Contractor for AW Laing Ltd, Grantown-on-Spey hopes to soon complete work on this project for handover to the Client. ]
Its has been a busy time and our thanks go to the following for their effort:
- Joinery Contractor - A W Laing Ltd
- Builder Work - Kenny Ingram Builders
- Plumber & Electrical Works - McDonald & Munro Ltd
- HVAC - Jamie Reed, Paul Scotland
- Metal Roofing - Mark Copper
- Kitchen & Utility - Riverside Kitchens
- Painter & Decorator - Hendersons of Rothes
The new 'steading' was designed to form two sides of a new courtyard; the third side belonging to the existing stone outbuildings of Rongai House, which have also been restored by Kenny Munro and his team of Innes Builders Ltd, under a separate contract by the Clients.
Taking a traditional steading form as the starting point, it is hoped the new build maintains the simple massing of agricultural buildings to create a contemporary new home. A mixture of render and painted vertical larch cladding complement the natural slate and standing seam metal roof elements. Behind the existing Manse and Steading, set back from the public road the new buildings blend subtely with the existing building forms.
Congratulations to the Geoff Laing and his team at AW Laing for bringing to a conclusion this project for a new dwelling at Rafford. Nestled in behind the old manse the collection of exisitng steading buildings and new roof forms look as they have always been there. Another happy Client.
