Sitting at the head of the Toscaig valley, this new multimedia studio is already blending into the natural landscape of Applecross. While only recently completed the project is generating much local interest in both the design and siting of the new building and also the history of the area.
Reminiscent of the stone Broch recently exposed nearby at Applecross Camp site, this new creative arts building Cruinn-leum was designed to built by Derek MacLenan as the project Client and Contractor who specialises in stone dyking. All the stone materials have been collected from the surround land for re-use in this iconic building, even re-using the timber from the old Pier at Toscaig for the high-level panorama window lintels.
Beautifully crafted this design of this building is something different by Coast2Coast Architects and settles wonderfully into hillside.
